Bright Enobakhare joins SC East Bengal: Can the Nigerian forward change the fate of the Kolkata giants
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Bright Enobakhare joins SC East Bengal from Greek side AEK Athens. The journey of SC East Bengal in the ISL 2020-21 is not up to the mark. The Kolkata giants are yet to register a win and only managed to gather 1 point from their last 6 matches. Nothing seems to be going right for the Red and Gold brigade as they are facing major issues on and off the pitch. Coach Robbie Fowler has stated his dissatisfaction with his current squad and is eager to add new options as soon as possible. And the club has finalized ex-Wolves forward Bright Enobakhare, who currently is a free agent and will join the side after his 14 days quarantine period. The club has confirmed the deal on their official website as well as on social media.

"I am happy to be part of SC East Bengal. It is the biggest club in India and offers me a fresh challenge."

Bright Enobakhare joins SC East Bengal: Career at a glance

Bright started his career in Wolverton youth system. He was promoted to Wolves first team in 2015-16 season. But his career at Wolves was nothing much to remember. He failed to impress Wolves management and scored only 3 goals in 49 matches for Wolves. His disciplinary issues made his situation even worse. He was loaned to Kilmarnock FC of Scottish first division in the summer window of 2018. From then on he played as a loanee in different clubs. He played 6 matches for the Scottish side but failed to register a goal. According to his teammates of Kilmarnock, he has Iniestaisque talent but failed to play more in the Scottish first division. After his spell in Kilmarnock, he was loaned to the Coventry City of League 1 where he seemed to be doing proper judgement to his talents. He scored 6 goals and 3 assists for Coventry City. After returning from Coventry City he was again sent to Wigan Athletics in a loan deal.

But he failed to break into the first team for Wigan. He only played 3 matches for Wigan and failed to score. After returning from his final loan spell in January 2020 he stayed with Wolves until August when his contract was terminated by the club. He joined Greek club AEK Athens after that but got only 14 mins of game time as a sub. He scored in that match but never played again for Athens. Though his career was not that great every coach he played under has agreed to the fact he is a premium talent and has the quality to play at least in the Europa League. Now can he rejuvenate his career under Robbie Fowler will be something to watch. One thing is for sure that he has the time to return to European football as he is only 22 years old and getting the guidance of a legendary forward like Robbie Fowler can be a life-changing experience for him.

Can the Nigerian forward be the final key in SC East Bengal’s attacking puzzle?

Bright Enobakhare joins SC East Bengal

This season Robbie Fowler’s boys are lagging in the scoring department. None of their forward’s performance is up to the mark and they have only scored 2 goals in their last 6 matches. The forward line is not delivering as expected and Aaron Holloway is facing fitness issue sand is yet to start in a single match. So Fowler is lagging options in forward line and Bright seems to be a good recruit in that case. Also, he can play as a Winger or CAM and will give Fowler the option to switch tactics.

Final Thoughts

Though Bright Enobakhare didn’t have an impressive career but he has talent. Now that Bright Enobakhare joins SC East Bengal, if he can play with his full potential he can be the real saviour of SCEB. Moreover, he is just 22 years old and can be an exceptional long term signing if brushed up well. SCEB fans will be looking forward to him to improve the position of their beloved side in the ISL 2020-21 table.
