It’s time for this year’s UEFA Champions League Final, the biggest match in the European Club Football. Bayern Munich and Paris St. Germain will fight for the glory which surpasses all the trophies with its history and heritage. European superpower Bayern will be on the quest of their 6th European Championship while their counterparts will try to engrave their name in history by winning the first European Championship for the club. Here is our exclusive Bayern Munich vs PSG UEFA Champions League 2019/20 Final Tactical Preview where the two German coaches Hansi Flick and Thomas Tuchel need to outclass each other in the tactical battle. We have a great match on our cards which is going to be an eye-catching encounter.

FC Bayern Munich

It’s been a season to remember for the German powerhouse, staging one of the greatest performances in the club’s history in this season of UEFA Champions League competition. They are the only team win 10 matches in a single UCL campaign, they achieved this record in this campaign. From scoring 7 against Spurs to bang past 8 goals against Barca, Bayern is looking like the team to beat at this moment. Now it’s time will tell if they can win the treble and create history this season by winning the Champions League.

UEFA Champions League 2019/20 Final: Tactical Setup of Bayern Munich

Bayern likes to dominate possession and try to control the proceedings in the middle of the park. Both of their fullbacks Alphonso Davies and Kimmich are good carriers of the ball and will try to use their speed in both attack and defence. Thiago Alacantara acts as the deep-lying playmaker who drops in front of the backline to release pressure by acting as a passing option. He is excellent at moving the ball. He can carry the ball forward with his surging runs. Alphonso Davies moves to the left-wing providing width on the left side. Thomas Muller plays as a second striker and joins Robert Lewandowski who plays as a forward. Leon Goretzka joins in the attacking transition, he plays in a crucial role where he is the passer and also the architect of Bayern Attack in Zone 14. He likes to play between the lines and his direct passes for the two forwards which result in Bayern being threatening in front of the goal.

Bayern likes to press high with very high intensity. Their defence plays in a high line which makes them vulnerable against quick counter-attacks. They use their pressing game as a weapon in both defending and attacking transitions. Their midfield likes to engage in 1v1 duels with the opponent and force them to play out wide. They defend in a narrow 4-4-2 formation with the two wingers drifting in the half-spaces to give adequate space for the fullbacks to move forward. They mainly form a 1v2 numerical overload in the flanks and help the defenders to see out the threat in the back. Once the ball is won, they like to move it forward with one-touch passing and long balls in case of the opponent playing with the high backline. The two wingers and fullbacks use their pace to break the defensive structure by drawing out players.

Lewandowski to add to his 55 goals tally?

Predicted Starting Line Up

Our Bayern Munich vs PSG UEFA Champions League 2019/20 Final Tactical Preview also features the predicted line-up for Bayern Munich.

Paris St. Germain

It’s a tryst with destiny for Paris St. Germain after so many years of hard work and investment. Paris St. Germain are finally one step away from winning the trophy which the club has desired to win for so long. Starting from a comeback against Atalanta in the stoppage time to defeating Dortmund after losing the first leg, PSG is the symbol of resilience in this season of Champions League with their never-say-die mentality. The trophy is just a step away from the likes of Neymar and Mbappe.

UEFA Champions League 2019/20 Final: Tactical setup of PSG

PSG started the Semi-Final against Leipzig in a 4-3-3 formation, switching up from the usual 4-2-2-2. The team will be charged up after a good performance in a comfortable victory against Leipzig in the semi-finals. With Marquinhos as a DMF and Kimpembe & Thiago Silva at the back, stability in the defence will be a key for PSG. Di Maria and Neymar are expected to be in the winger role. Mbappe would have the roles to convert the chances into goals upfront. PSG will have a big boost in Verratti returning from injury and might be starting in the biggest game of his club career so far in place of Herrera. Also, Keylor Navas is expected to start after gaining match-fitness.

Can Neymar shine on the biggest game of his PSG career?

PSG will try to play it out from the back. PSG are habituated to facing teams who play with a low block against them and they are pretty good in handling that situation, but this time it could be a problem as Bayern aren’t a team who will sit back and let PSG control the flow of play. PSG will try to form a diamond structure from the back which has been a feature for them this season, which will give rise to more passing options to the team. Navas will be the beginner of the building up from the back, his experience to play in the Champions League Final can come into aid for Paris St. Germain. PSG’s weakness against man to man pressing will be out clear as Bayern likes to engage in man to man pressing.

Another Tuchel masterclass?

PSG may try to build a strong mid-block against Munich’s overloading play in the midfield. The centre backs will have to be alert with a lot depending on them in the defence and in case of the counters, Bayern’s pacy wingers can become a threat with their lightning-quick pace. They will play out passes to the wide regions unlocking the wingers or fullbacks. Bayern will basically depend on the pressing a lot, which is a concern for PSG, as they looked shaky in the man to man press against Lyon in the league.
