Van de Beek’s Career at a glance

As Van de Beek joins Manchester United, let’s have a look at his career till now. Donny Van De Beek started his career with Ajax academy in the 2008/09 season. He spent 3 years at the Johan Cruijff Arena. The young kid amazed everyone with his versatile playing capability and just after 3 years, he got the chance to play in the Ajax U-17 team. Van de Beek’s development was tremendous as just after 2 years he got promoted to play for Ajax U-21. And finally, after 1 year, he got the chance to play for Ajax senior team. He played brilliantly for Ajax. He has good defensive awareness, a brilliant vision of passing, and also good finishing capability. He played 175 matches for Ajax, scored 41 goals, and provided 34 assists. He also won an Eredivisie title and a Dutch super cup.

Ajax manager Eric Ten Hag also praised Van de Beek for his contribution in a game and also for his tremendous performance. But also confirmed first that Van de Beek will leave the club this summer if a perfect offer comes and finally Manchester United has successfully given a perfect offer to Ajax and as a result Van de Beek joins Manchester United.

“In the final phase, he was important, but also defensively. He covered incredible ground and won many duels and second balls. The request not to let him play did not come specifically from one side. We do that together. Agreements have been made about a possible transfer, and if that possibility arises, you must also cooperate.”

Van De Beek joins Manchester United: What does he bring to the club

Manchester United have quality midfielders like Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes. But still, they are lacking squad depth and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also told earlier that he wants to improve the squad depth, as it is very much important to compete win the race for the title. Donny van de Beek is such kind of player who can give that required depth to the midfield of Manchester United. He mainly plays as a central midfielder, but can also play as a defensive midfielder and central attacking midfielder. He has made 11 assists and scored 10 goals this season just in 36 starts for Ajax. He has an 82% accurate pass percentage per game. He also won 57% of his duels, made at least 2 successful tackles per game. This shows his defensive caliber too. Surely the Dutch midfielder will add more quality to the midfield of Manchester United next season.

Manchester United finished 3rd this season in Premier League and earned the opportunity to play UEFA Champions League again. Fans can expect the team to uplift their performance next season. However, some quality players are still needed to make the team world-class and to compete for the title race.
