EA has just released a brand new promo in FIFA 21, Showdown SBCs, which is in the form of some unique squad building challenges. You might remember seeing these back in summer of 2020 on FIFA 20. This is a pretty new and fresh concept that EA has come up with, so the way in which it works is different from the usual SBCs you might see in FIFA 21. This article will guide you through the promo and inform you of everything you need to know about this brand new Showdown event. So, let’s get started without further ado.
How do I earn rewards in FIFA 21 Showdown SBCs event?
The first thing you will probably be wondering is how you earn those flashy looking cards, you see on the title screens and in news pages. Well, this event is completely SBC based. This means that everything related to this promo will happen in the Squad Building Challenges section of the game. You’ll see 2 new SBCs before every real-life major football match which you can complete to get a few packs and a fresh Showdown player!
The SBCs are not all that complex to complete as they usually consist of high overall cards with only one requirement such as “Minimum 1 player from France” or “Min 1 player from La Liga”. They are quite expensive though, so you will need a lot of high overall players in order to complete this SBC.
What’s so special about the Showdown SBC’s?
You might be wondering, what is so special about this event? You’re just completing SBCs for players? In actual fact, there is a lot more to that. The Showdown cards you get from the event are Dynamic. This means that their stats will not remain as it is for long. As mentioned previously, the 2 SBCs will be released before a real-life major football match. For example, the first matchup is between the Spanish sides, Villareal and Sevilla. The 2 cards released are (85) Francis Coquelin from Villareal, and (86) Marcos Acuna from Sevilla. You are free to complete any SBC you wish to get either of their cards. On Completing the SBCs, You would have to wait for the result of the match-up.
The twist is, depending on the result of the match, one of the cards will get an overall upgrade. So by using the above match-up, if Villareal wins, Coquelin will get a +2 upgrade on his card. If Sevilla wins the tie against Villareal, Acuna will get the upgrade instead of Coquelin. In the case of a draw, both cards will get a +1 upgrade instead. The losing card will not lose anything, their cards will remain as it is.
Remember, the SBCs expire before the match, so you’ll have to make your predictions quickly, otherwise you will miss out on the card.
What matches are planned in future?
This is not yet certain, the first match-up being Villareal vs Sevilla. Future match-ups will always be based on an important match between 2 strong, competitive clubs from any league among the top 5 leagues. Some theories suggest a match-up between Chelsea and Manchester City which is not yet certain. But, It can definitely be a fixture which could pop up in this FIFA 21 event, Showdown SBCs.
