Fantasy FPL 2020-21

With the new Premier League season just around the corner, Fantasy Premier League managers will now be thinking of building their initial Fantasy Squad. The roster of players to choose from is huge, but with the 100 million budget, you will need to make your choices carefully. Amongst the roster, there are some individuals that have proved their capabilities in the previous seasons with stellar performances. This is a list of those players, it is a good idea to have a few of these as your marquee signings as your initial FPL players in your 2020-21 squads ahead of the FPL Gameweek 11.

The Watchlist is back to identify more players who caught the eye based on recent performances and upcoming fixtures. Diogo Jota and Kevin de Bruyne remain in consideration while, here are five transfer targets to look for fantasy squads for FPL Gameweek 11 and beyond.

Riyad Mahrez (Midfielder) 8.3 million

 FPL Gameweek 11
FPL Gameweek 11: Riyad Mahrez

Manchester City ended their relative goal drought with a familiar 5-0 win over Burnley at the Etihad as Riyad Mahrez netted a hattrick. No player in Game week 10 can better his 3 shots on target while only Oli McBurnie has taken more than his 5 shots in the box. The Algerian has also managed more touches in the opposition’s box than any other player with 11. Whilst there is always a rotation risk with Man City assets, Mahrez has largely been the first choice in the Premier League this season, starting seven of their last eight matches. Amassing 4 goals and 1 assist in that time, the 29-year-old has averaged 6.4 points per game. No teammate has fired as many as his 13 shots in the box or landed as many as his 10 shots on target. The midweek Champions League clash with Porto gave us an indication of Guardiola’s rotation plans as both De Bruyne and Mahrez were rested for Fulham‘s visit to Etihad in Game week 11.

Callum Wilson (Forward) 6.5 million

Callum Wilson and Joelington combined for 2 late goals to steal victory for Newcastle over Crystal Palace. the Englishman scored with his only effort on target in the match while both Benteke and Joelington fired more than his 2 shots in the box. So far this season, 12 FPL forwards have taken more than Wilson’s 18 shots, but his 5.99 expected goals figure ranks fifth. Only Calvert-Lewin, Bamford, and Jaime Vardy can have had more than his 10 big chances. The 28-year-old has scored three penalties with only Salah and Vardy converting more times from the spot, but interestingly six teams have been awarded more penalties than Newcastle this season. The Magpies have a favorable schedule over the next four game weeks including home matches against West Brom and Fulham.

Note: The current game of Aston Villa vs Newcastle is postponed due to the number of Coronavirus cases reported at the club. So do not make early transfers for any Newcastle assets, but wait some time and Callum Wilson’s price bracket and expected goals figure can surely reward you handsomely when the time comes.

Jack Harrison (Midfielder) 5.5 million

 FPL Gameweek 11
FPL Gameweek 11: Jack Harrison

Leeds secured a 1-0 win at Everton as Jack Harrison claimed his third assist of the season. The 24-year-old was unfortunate not to score himself after striking the post in the first half. No player has had more than his 2 big chances in game week 10 while only Bruno Fernandes and Mahrez can better his 0.85 expected goals figure, but it is noting that Harrison left the 89th minute with a knock which may need to assessed ahead of a visit to Stamford Bridge this Saturday. Over the last four game weeks, the Leeds midfielder has contributed 10 attempted assists ranking behind only Matheus Pereira, De Bruyne, and Hakim Ziyech with each on 11. His tally of 4 big chances created throughout the season can only be beaten by Jack Grealish, Bruno Fernandes, James Rodriguez, and De Bruyne. Leeds has some very favorable fixtures to end the calendar year including home ties with West Ham, Newcastle, and Burnley.

Note: Keep an eye on his Brazilian teammate Raphinha (5.4 million), he looks good and might have just nailed his starting position, he can be a cheap differential, should you need any emergency moves to free up funds elsewhere.

Kyle Walker (Defender) 6.2 million

With two clean sheets, a goal, and an assist, Walker has averaged 6.5 points per game. The Right back has amassed 26 FPL Points in that time to rank behind only Kurt Zouma and Ben Chilwell among defenders. Amongst teammates, only Joao Cancelo and Kevin De Bruyne have attempted more than his 69 final third passes. Manchester City has conceded just three goals over the last four game weeks keeping 2 clean sheets with only Chelsea and Tottenham conceding fewer over that period while only Chelsea conceding fewer shots on target than theirs 7. Their game week 11 opponent Fulham has scored 6 goals over the last 4 game weeks and only 5 teams have taken fewer shots in the box than their 27. With popular picks such as Trent Alexander Arnold out and City having a bright fixture swing, this might be the right moment for Kylie Walker to enter your FPL squads.

Che Adams (Forward) 5.9 million

 FPL Gameweek 11
FPL Gameweek 11: Che Adams

Che Adams has directly contributed to 6 goals in the last 6 game weeks to average 6.7 points per game. Amongst FPL Forwards only Calvert Lewin, Jaime Vardy, and Bamford have landed more than his 7 shots on target over that period. Only Harry Kane converted his 8 attempted assists and he ranks join top with the English captain for big chances created with 3. No team has scored more goals than Southampton over the last four game weeks with only 7 teams have managed more than their shots on target with 18. Their next game week opponent, Brighton have conceded four goals in as many games keeping just one clean sheet and they have allowed opponents 34 shots and 7 big chances over those matches. The Saints face Sheffield at home and Arsenal away, two sides who have had a relatively hard time in front of goal.
