With half of the Premier League season nearly over and the table has started to take shape, Fantasy Premier League managers will now be thinking of re-building their initial Fantasy Squads ahead of FPL Gameweek 16. The roster of players to choose from is huge, but with the 100 million budget, you will need to make your choices carefully. Amongst the roster, there are some individuals that have proved their capabilities in the previous seasons with stellar performances. This is a list of those players, it is a good idea to have a few of these as your marquee signings as your FPL players in your 2020-21 squads ahead of the FPL Gameweek 16
We only have a couple of days before Monday’s Game week 16 deadline, which will be the final day to use the first Wildcard. The plan is to load up on players who feature in Double Gameweek 19 with a view to using in the Bench Boost chip there. The Free Hit chip can be used to navigate Blank Gameweek 18 so we are not stressing on that right now. Here is how the current FPL Gameweek 16 Wildcard Draft looks like.
Goalkeepers
Since the plan is to use the Bench Boost in Double Gameweek 19, two playing Goalkeepers are needed. Nick Pope is in the mix, But West Ham has slightly better fixtures than Burnley in the longer term. Hence Fabianski makes the cut. The Hammers host Burnley, West Brom, and Sheffield United in a run-up to game week 24. Southampton’s form sees Mccarthy being the other popular pick though he will largely play a backup role in this setup.
Defenders
Quite a lot of budget has been spent in Defense with a double up on the Liverpool full-backs. Robertson has been the most creative defender this season carving up 26 chances and amassing 5 assists making it impossible to overlook him. There is a sense that Liverpool is trying to pull away now after that 7-0 win at Crystal Palace. If that does turn out to be the case, it is surely a matter of time before Trent Alexander Arnold recaptures the kind of form we have seen from him in the past.
Coufal ranks second only to Robertson for attempted assists in the last six-game weeks amongst defenders and West Ham’s back-to-back home fixtures in double game week 19 add to his appeal. No defender has taken more shots on target than Dallas this season, while only Harry Maguire has had more than his 18 attempts in total. Burnley has favorable fixtures around the double game week that see them host Sheffield United, Fulham, and Aston Villa making Taylor a standout among 4.5 million options.
Midfielders
Big hitters Salah, Son , and Bruno Fernandes keep their places in midfield with De Bruyne making way. Manchester City has just one fixture in game week 19 and is away at Everton and Chelsea in the next two matches making the Belgian the most disposable. Son is the only player without a double game week to make the cut and he will provide a captain option in the next two game weeks where Tottenham host Fulham and Leeds.
Given West Ham’s game week 19 fixtures, Soucek is a fairly easy pick at his price. Only four midfielders priced under 9 million can better his 20 shots in the box this season. It’s a compromise to have Anguissa as the fifth midfielder and it would be ideal to upgrade him to either of Lookman, Harrison, or Raphinha if the extra funds were available but since the plan is to try a 4-3-3 formation most game weeks it makes sense, in the long run, to use the money elsewhere. No midfielder at that price can better his 12 attempted assists or his 3 big chances created this season.
Forwards
Bamford keeps his place in the lineup having scored twice in the last four game weeks. Only Benteke can better his 7 shots on target over that period amongst forwards. With 4 goals and 5 assists this season, Che Adams has averaged 4.8 points per game. Southampton has a mixed bag of fixtures but their form has been impressive for a long while even going back to last season post restart. The 24-year-old ranks 2nd amongst forwards with tallies of 7 attempted assists and 3 big chances created over the last four game weeks.
After a frustrating start to the season, Anthony Martial has 1 goal and 4 assists in the last two game weeks where he has amassed 22 FPL Points . United’s double game week includes a trip to Fulham while Wolves, Aston Villa, and Sheffield United are the next three sides to visit Old Trafford.
