With the new Premier League season just around the corner, Fantasy Premier League managers will now be thinking of building their initial Fantasy Squad. The roster of players to choose from is huge, but with the 100 million budget, you will need to make your choices carefully. Amongst the roster, there are some individuals that have proved their capabilities in the previous seasons with stellar performances. This is a list of those players, it is a good idea to have a few of these as your marquee signings as your initial FPL players in your 2020-21 squads ahead of the FPL Gameweek 7.
The Watchlist series is back to identify more players who caught the eye over the weekend. Everton attackers James Rodriguez and Dominic Calvert-Lewin remain ongoing targets as does Michail Antonio . but here are five new transfer targets for FPL Gameweek 7 and beyond.
Patrick Bamford (Forward) 5.9 million
It was impossible not to be impressed by Patrick Bamford’s hat trick in a 3-0 nil win over Aston Villa. The Leeds Forward’s second and third goals were really eye-catching and indicative of a man full of confidence. No player has taken as his 9 shots during the game week so far while his 4 shots on target and 7 efforts in the box are also leading tallies. Only Salah and Zaha have more than his 12 touches in the opposition’s box.
The 27-year-old has now amassed 6 goals and 2 assists this season averaging 8.2 points per game. Harry Kane is the only forward with more than his 49 FPL Points and only Calvert- Lewin and Kane have landed more than his 11 shots on target. Leeds have some favourable fixtures to end the calendar year hosting Leicester , West Ham, Newcastle , and Burnley to name a few. That’s why we think he should be in your FPL Gameweek 7 squad.
Wilfried Zaha (Midfielder) 7.3 million
Crystal Palace has soared up the table after Wilfried Zaha inspired a 2-1 win over Fulham, playing a hand in both goals. Only Bamford landed more than his 3 shots on target over the weekend while no player created as many as his 2 big chances . Although the Eagles had just 36% possession, Zaha managed an impressive 15 touches in the opposition’s box, more than any other player in the game week. The Ivorian has enjoyed his best-ever start to a season producing 5 goals and 1 assist to average 8 points per game.
Amongst FPL Midfielders only Mane and Salah can better his 15 total shots or his 13 efforts from inside the box. Only Son and Mane have had more than his 6 big chances. Crystal Palace will hope to build on their positive start over the next five gameweeks where they host Leeds and Newcastle amongst away ties with Wolves, Burnley and West Brom .
Ben Chilwell (Defender) 5.8 million
Chelsea restricted Manchester United to just 4 efforts on target and 0 big chances in their goalless draw at Old Trafford on Saturday. Since Ben Chilwell made his premier league debut for the Blues in game week 4, they have gone on to keep three clean sheets in four matches in all competitions. No defender has amassed more than his 27 FPL Points over the last three gameweeks, an average of 9 points per game.
The left-back has attempted 9 assists in that time, only behind Grealish and Bruno Fernandes, while no defender has taken more than his 2 shots on target . Chelsea has allowed opponents to joint fewest number of big chances over the last three gameweeks along with Wolves, Southampton and Newcastle. The next three gameweeks could see them build on recent results with Sheffield United travelling to Stamford Bridge amongst away ties with Burnley and Newcastle .
Harry Kane (Forward) 10.9 million
The England Captain is strongly under consideration after again handing an assist to Heung-Min Son against Burnley. He has scored twice just the previous gameweek against West Ham . He has now created 8 big chances this season with his assist which is a league-leading figure. Although he still drops deep at times and only ranks 9th for touches in the opposition’s box amongst FPL forwards this season, the 27-year-old is effective when he is in there.
Of his 24 touches in the box, 16 have been shots. Only Calvert-Lewin has fired more. There are some tough tests on the horizon for Tottenham who face Manchester City , Chelsea, and Arsenal back to back from gameweek 9 but there is no denying the appeal of their next two matches against Brighton and West Brom. Kane is the highest-scoring player amongst FPL forwards and he should be finding the back of the net easily against these teams.
Marcus Rashford (Midfielder) 9.5 million
Despite the 0-0 draw with Chelsea, Manchester United seems back on track with a string of away victories in their bag. In their 4-1 victory over Newcastle, Rashford scored once and assisted twice in the final minutes of the game. In the last two league games, he has amassed 6 shots in the box with all the shots being on target , his 3 goal involvements have taken his expected goals to 1.33 .
Rashford is a key to United’s hope of revival this season and should you be looking into their midfield other than Bruno Fernandes then Rashford is your best bet. After their meeting with Arsenal on game week 7, United don’t face a top 6 side other than Manchester City all the way till facing Liverpool on game week 19.
