All the recent speculations come to an end finally as Achraf Hakimi joins Inter Milan officially for a reported fee of €40M plus add-ons. Inter Milan announced that the Moroccan will join the club next season from Real Madrid. Los Blancos have confirmed it on their official website and social media.

Hakimi joins Inter: Contract details

Achraf Hakimi will sign a 5year deal at Inter till June 2025. As Hakimi joins Inter, the Italian club had to pay at around 40million euros to Hakimi’s current club Real Madrid. Rumours were coming that Real might tell Inter to include a buy-back clause in the contract but Inter refused that and there is no buy-back clause included in Hakimi’s contract. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported some days ago that there is no discussion happened between these two clubs regarding the buy-back clause.

Achraf Hakimi to Inter, here we go! Total agreement for €40M + €5M add ons to Real Madrid on permanent deal. Buy back clause has never been discussed – no chance. He’ll join Inter on next week also with medicals and official announcement ⚫️🔵 @DiMarzio @SkySport #Inter #Hakimi

What made Hakimi leave Madrid?

The speculation regarding this deal is not going for a long time as it was expected that Hakimi will join his parent club Real Madrid this season again when his loan deal with Dortmund will expire after this season. Hakimi’s agent Alejandro Camano told earlier that his client is very much eager to play for the royal whites and he thinks that they will be successful to reach an agreement.

There’s a magnificent dialogue with Real Madrid and they always expect to have him on their radar and what we don’t want is to distance ourselves from them too much. So, we’ll reach an agreement of some sort over whether he stays or goes, but without forgetting that the aim is to play for Real Madrid one day because, for him, it’s the best club in the world.”

Alejandro Camano, Hakimi’s agent

But the main thing was a reason for thinking for the player is to get a regular chance in the first team. Mr.Camano also told that the first-team football or regular matches is very much important for the development of the player and the player himself is very much focused to get the first-team football at any cost.

“He wants to play games, like this season, where he has started every match. There’s no rush. His only aspiration is to play games to help his development.“

Alejandro Camano, Hakimi’s agent

Hakimi himself made it clear that he wants to play for the Los Blancos but always remebering first team football as priority.

“I have not yet had contact with Madrid on this matter, but I imagine that soon we will have some conversation to find out what is best for me.I don’t know when my contract ends, that subject is taken by my agent.”

So the main priority for the player, guaranteed first-team football attracted him to Italy actually as there is no assurance of regular first-team football in Real Madrid for the Moroccan ahead of his competitor for the right-back position Daniel Carvajal who is in good form now. Zidane has no doubt the Spaniard provides more balance to his team than an attack-minded Hakimi.

Hakimi: One for the future?

Achraf Hakimi is currently in brilliant form. He actually played as a right wing-back in Dortmund and can easily fit himself in Inter manager Antonio Conte‘s 5-3-2 system. He played 73 matches for Dortmund overall. He scored 12 times and provided 17 assists. Dortmund manager Lucien Favre is also amazed by the Moroccan’s performance in his team. Interestingly, one of the best matches Hakimi played this season was against Inter in a 3-2 win where he scored twice in the UCL group stage match.

“Hakimi was everywhere. He played right-back and he was outstanding. He is a big asset for us.”

Lucien Favre, Dortmund manager

Inter is currently 3rd in Serie A with 64 points, 4 points behind second-placed Lazio and 8 behind league leader Juventus. Real Madrid is currently holding the top position of La Liga with 71 points, 1 ahead of second-placed Barcelona.
