Overview of the season
La Liga has two big giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid. They dominated the league and played pleasing football. Atletico De Madrid ‘s consistency along with Diego Martinez’s Granada, Imanol Alguacil’s Real Sociedad and Javi Calleja’s Villarreal played appealing football throughout the year. Further down the table, It was newly-promoted Osasuna who played a fantastic brand of football under Jogoba Arrasate and made Barcelona drop points twice in the season since the 2002/03 season. Los Rojillos veritably were an entertaining team to watch. Levante ‘s defence did let the team down, but the attack was enough to win games against Barcelona and Real in the same season.
For Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla , it was a superb season that could have gone way better if they kept it together at the end. Finally, a little mention to Javier Aguirre’s Leganes, who was the 12th best team based on form after the Mexican set foot at Butarque. They were dead last when he found them, with only 5 points. But while they couldn’t escape relegation, they fought until the last second against all odds and circumstances.
