Barcelona will pay around €23 Million (including add-ons) to Ajax for bringing Sergino Dest to Barcelona. Dest will sign a contract to stay at the club until June 2025. As Sergino Dest joins Barcelona let’s focus on his career. Dest started his career from Ajax Academy. He started to play as a left-back. Day by day he was improving in Amsterdam. He impressed the academy management very much with his defensive awareness and tackling ability. After 4 years of staying at Ajax academy he joined the Ajax U-17 team on season 2016/17. Then gradually he got a promotion to the senior teams.
He joined Ajax U-19 and U-21 team just after two years of joining the U-17 team. Though he started as left-back, he established himself as a right-back. Last season he got the chance to play for Ajax Senior team. He amazed everybody there and became the regular right-back for Ajax. He also won the Dutch Super Cup for Ajax. Sergino Dest also won 3 Academy silverwares. He played 38 matches for Ajax, scores 2 goals, and provided 6 assists. He is surely a player to watch for the future.
Ajax manager Eric Ten Haag also praised Dest for his development and told him he wants Dest to stay. Ten Haag also expressed that they will promote a new right-back if Dest leaves. So currently they have to get a new right-back.
