Thiago joins Liverpool: The Spanish Magician joins Klopp’s Mentality Monsters
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Liverpool has completed their much-awaited Thiago Alcantara deal, which becomes their second purchase this summer after the signing of Greek left-back Kostas Tsimikas. Liverpool was looking to add more quality into the midfield. Now that Thiago joins Liverpool from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, he will most probably solve a big problem for Jurgen Klopp. The market went into a frenzy with Thiago expressing his desire to play for Liverpool, after that it was a test of patience for the Liverpool fans with uncertainty about the deal. But today finally Liverpool has sealed the deal for the 29-year-old Champions League-winning Spanish maestro Thiago Alcantara. The Premier League club announced the signing on their social media handles.

Thiago joins Liverpool: Contract Details

Liverpool has reportedly agreed to a deal with Bayern Munich for  Thiago Alcantara. The Premier League Champions will pay £20m across Thiago’s four-year contract, with the potential for £5m in add-ons, with achievable clauses. There is also talk of the money being paid in 4 installments but at this moment we didn’t get any concrete news in this regard

Thiago Alcantara has also signed his contract until June 2024 as new Liverpool player. As promised by Thiago himself to Jurgen Klöpp on June, he’s coming. 🔴 #LFC

Thiago Alcantara: Career Overview

Now that Thiago joins Liverpool, let’s have a look at his career. Thiago’s football career started from the hugely celebrated academy of Barcelona – “La Masia”. He was considered to be a potential superstar from a very young age due to his technical prowess. At the age of 10, he was signed by Barcelona for their academy. It is needless to say he was forged into a great player and their investment on him proved to be quite right as he was promoted to the Barca first team in 2009.

A Young Talent in search for game time at Barcelona

At an age of 18 when he made his debut for Barcelona, he was touted as the next big thing from the Catalan Club’s academy. In his 68 appearances for the club, he scored 7 goals and registered 6 assists. He was grabbing the attention of other big clubs in Europe.

Once a rising Catalan prospect now Thiago joins Liverpool

With time he wanted more game time in Barcelona as he was finding himself a lot in the reserve bench rather than the first eleven. Finding a space in the Catalan midfield of Xavi-Iniesta- Busquets trio was really an issue for the young prodigy. Finally, he was sold to Bayern Munich for 18 million Euros by lowering his buy out clause of 90 million pounds. That deal still is a matter of regret for the Barcelona fans.

Transfer to Bayern

The name Thiago became known to the world in Bayern Munich. Thiago’s career went a total transformation at Bayern. He went from the bench of Barcelona to the starting 11 of Bayern. He was getting a lot of chances and game time and he proved their trust in them was right.

Winning the Champions league with Bayern, now Thiago joins Liverpool

From a young talent, he became one of the best midfielders of the world at Bayern. He scored 25 goals and registered 31 assists for the German outfit. But the stats do not tell the whole story his impact on the team with his passing, composure on the ball, and ability to guide the team in the midfield made him the player he is today. After putting up a match-winning performance in the Champions League final, Thiago leaves the Bavarians in search for a new challenge on the Merseyside.

Thiago joins Liverpool: What he can bring to Anfield

As Thiago joins Liverpool, it solves a great problem for Klopp at Anfield. Despite the attacking prowess of his fullbacks, Liverpool lacks creativity at the center of the park due to the absence of a creative midfielder. Thiago simply fits into that slot for Klopp. Thiago with his experience can take the role of the creative midfielder.

If Liverpool signs Thiago I think it[the title race] is done. Thiago to Liverpool is a bigger deal than Messi to Manchester City.

With his ability to control the game and his press resistant nature, Thiago adds a new dimension to Liverpool’s style of play. He can also be a guide for the likes of Curtis Jones, with a ton of experience in his bag. His ability to lead will also prove useful in Liverpool. His versatility will also be the deciding factor in a lot of cases.
