With the 2020/21 season beginning in German football, there is no dearth of talent in the Bundesliga teams. Today we will look at 10 talented young players in Bundesliga clubs who can make this season their very own with stellar performances. So let’s see the top 10 Young players in Bundesliga 2020/21 season.

Dayot Upamecano (Defender) – RB Leipzig

Dayot Upamecano is one of the most promising defenders in Europe, who has already caught the eyes of football experts. After joining RB Leipzig in 2017, Upamecano has emerged as the first-choice defender for manager Julian Nagelsmann.

Alphonso Davies (Defender) – Bayern Munich

The rise of Alphonso Davies has surprised everyone last season. His story from a refugee camp in Ghana to the Champions League final at the age of 19 has been phenomenal. The 19 years old Left Back was signed by Bayern Munich in January 2019 as a backup fullback but he became a regular player of the starting XI with time and has astonished the fans with his performance.

The injury of Bayern Munich defender Lucas Hernández and Niklas Süle helped him to make a breakthrough in the starting XI last season. The left fullback has an electric pace with an impressive attacking prowess that makes him even more dangerous. It is evident that Alphonso Davies is going to be an important player for the last season’s treble winners in this season and manager Hansi Flick will be happy to rely upon him.


Giovanni Reyna (Midfielder) – Borussia Dortmund

This 17 years old American midfielder has been a new addition to Borussia Dortmund‘s squad this season. He joined the Borussia Dortmund U19 squad last year from MLS club New York City FC youth academy. After spending one year in Dortmund’s youth team, he has been promoted to play for the senior team. This young teenager has already secured his place in Lucien Favre‘s starting XI.

He plays as an attacking midfielder or sometimes as a winger who has all the skills to entertain the spectators with the ball on his feet. He was also included in The Guardian’s Next Generation 2019 list which clearly signifies he can become one of the star footballers in the coming years. Giovanni Reyna is going to be one of the most promising prospects among these top 10 young players in Bundesliga to watch in 2020-21.


Jude Bellingham (Midfielder) – Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund has been produced many promising footballers over the years and the next player on the list is another Dortmund midfielder. Just like Reyna, Jude Bellingham is another new inclusion to Dortmund‘s squad this season. Dortmund signed him from English club Birmingham this season and he has been a part of Lucian Favre‘s starting XI as well from the very first match of Bundesliga.

Before joining Dortmund, he was a player of the Birmingham squad since his childhood. He also made his debut for Birmingham senior team during last season, which made him the youngest player to play for Birmingham senior squad. He plays as a central midfielder, in a deeper position than Reyna. However, the combination of Reyna and Bellingham has already started to display their magic for Dortmund in Bundesliga and they will continue to do so in the coming days.


Florian Wirtz (Forward) – Bayer 04 Leverkusen

The German teenager Florian Wirtz is another youngster to look out for this season in Bundesliga. The 17 years old became the youngest player to feature for Leverkusen in Bundesliga when he made his debut for the club in May 2020. He was signed by Leverkusen in the winter transfer window of 2020 from 1. FC Köln’s youth team and now is a part of Leverkusen’s senior squad.

Although he plays as an attacking midfielder for his current team, he can also play as a winger on both flanks. He is one of the most promising among German teenagers right now. He became the youngest goalscorer in the history of Bundesliga at the age of 17 years and 34 days when he scored against Bayern Munich in May. At such a young age, he is one of the regulars for Leverkusen and he surely can add many goals and assists for his team in this season.


Dani Olmo (Midfielder) – RB Leipzig

Dani Olmo is definitely one of the top youngsters in Bundesliga this season. The Spanish attacking midfielder was signed by RB Leipzig in January 2020 from Dinamo Zagreb. Blessed with great skills, the youngster was the architect behind many goals of Leipzig in the second half of Bundesliga last season.

His performance was so good that he got his call from the national team for the International friendly and UEFA Nations League, and rightfully made his international debut under Luis Enrique as well. Ozan Muhammed Kabak (Defender) – Schalke

Ozan Muhammed Kabak is a Turkish player who plays as a Centre Back for Schalke. After growing up through the youth system of Galatasaray, the 20 years old came to Germany in January 2019 when he signed for VfB Stuttgart.

However, in July 2019 Schalke signed him from VfB Stuttgart and he is playing for them since then. This young defender has already featured for Schalke last season and has shown his talent. He will be one of these top 10 young players in Bundesliga to watch this season.


Paulinho (Forward) – Bayer 04 Leverkusen

A promising Brazilian left-winger, who joined Leverkusen back in 2018, has finally started to show what he is capable of. Leverkusen signed him from Vasco da Gama when he was only 17 years old. It took him some time to adjust to the new team and playing style while there was a heavy burden of expectations from the fans.

And with the boost in confidence gained from his performance for his country, Paulinho finally started to shine for his club in Germany. This season Paulinho can become a crucial player for Leverkusen who is all set to deliver the fans what they expect from him.


Reinier Jesus (Midfielder) – Borussia Dortmund

Another promising Brazilian teenager, Reinier Jesus will be playing in Bundesliga for the first time this season with Borussia Dortmund. While playing for Flamengo at his home, Reinier recorded a tally of 6 goals and 2 assists in his debut season for Flamengo. Being impressed by his talent Spanish giants Real Madrid grabbed his signing for a fee of €30.00m in January 2020. Spending the rest of the season at Real Madrid youth team under Raul Gonzalez, Reinier is sent on a one year loan to Dortmund. The sole reason for the lone move was to help the player gain more first-team match experience.

Reinier plays as an attacking midfielder and his playing style is considered as similar to one of the Brazilian legends, none other than Ricardo Kaka. With sufficient match time, Reinier can emerge as one of the best among these top 10 young players in Bundesliga this season.


Joshua Zirkzee (Forward) – Bayern Munich

Joshua Zirkzee is a promising center-forward emerging from the Bayern Munich’s youth team. After scoring goals at an impressive rate for the U17 and U19 squad of Bayern Munich, it is finally time for him to show his talent on a bigger platform. Last season when he made his debut for the senior squad, it took only five touches for him to score the first goal in his senior team career, followed by a second goal with just one more touch. Bayern promoted him for the senior squad permanently this season, with a contract till 2023.

He is valued highly by the club and can become a long term successor of Robert Lewandowski. You can guess the talent he possesses when the club officials consider him a future replacement of Lewandowski, one of the best strikers in Europe currently. If Zirkzee manages to continue the goalscoring form of his youth team days, his name will spread around the world in no time.
