However, the Inter CEO had told La Gazzetta Dello Sport in an interview before that Inter will land another top player in case Lautaro Martinez leaves in the summer. He said, “
We don’t want him to leave, but if he leaves we will surely go for a top player
“. Rumours were also coming at that moment linking former
Uruguayan PSG striker Edinson Cavani
to the Nerazzurri as well, but Marotta denied that.

Barcelona, on the other hand definitely wants to make this deal happen as they think that Lautaro Martinez will surely click with the team. If the deal of Lautaro Martinez to Barca finally goes through, the 22-year-old will potentially replace Luis Suarez (33) in the team, who is not in good form currently. His partnership with Romelu Lukaku has helped Inter to perform brilliantly this season in Serie A. The clinical duo scored again in their latest match against Sampdoria, keeping their title hopes alive. Lautaro is just 22 and full of talent, so it is not unexpected that the big European clubs will be attracted by him in this summer transfer market, as Inter CEO Marotta said.
