Chelsea has agreed with Willian and Pedro contract extension temporarily to play on until the end of the season. The pair both left it until Tuesday’s cut-off date for players whose contracts had been due to expire by June 30 to agree with terms to play on past that date.
Pedro’s willingness to play for Chelsea until the end of the current campaign had been in doubt after he had agreed on terms to join Roma on a free transfer in the next transfer window. But, following lengthy talks with head coach Frank Lampard and director Marina Granovskaia on Monday and Tuesday, the agreement of Willian and Pedro on temporary contracts finally came. They decided to commit themselves to Chelsea until the end of the season.

Pedro’s next adventure in Rome?
Corriere Dello Sport has reported that the Spanish winger will pack his bags in August and move to Rome. The agreement for his passage to the Giallorossi is now defined: “Pedro will move to Trigoria from a free transfer by signing a two- year contract plus an option for the third year for three million-plus bonuses”. The deal went through, AS Roma itself gave the attacker the ‘OK’ to sign the agreement with Chelsea before starting the new adventure.
Pedro has already agreed to sign for Roma after this season ends as Daily Telegraph’s news correspondent Matt Law reported this earlier.
“I have no relationship with Pedro, but I played against him many times. He is an extraordinary footballer, he can play with both feet. He still has a physique that does not show his age, and has never had major physical problems.”Diego Perotti, Roma striker on Pedro
What happens to Willian?
The Athletic journalist David Ornstein has revealed that Arsenal are trying to secure Chelsea winger Willian on a free transfer.
Willian has reportedly already agreed on terms to move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer after his deal with Chelsea expires. The Brazil winger has spent seven years at Stamford Bridge but has not agreed on a long-term contract extension.
Willian and his family are keen to remain in the capital and the 31-year-old had also been linked with a move to Spurs’ north London rivals Arsenal. But his desire to play for former boss Mourinho appears to have paved the way for a summer transfer to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
