With half of the Premier League season nearly over and the table has started to take shape, Fantasy Premier League managers will now be thinking of re-building their initial Fantasy Squads. The roster of players to choose from is huge, but with the 100 million budget, you will need to make your choices carefully. Amongst the roster, there are some individuals that have proved their capabilities in the previous seasons with stellar performances. This is a list of those players, it is a good idea to have a few of these as your marquee signings as your initial FPL players in your 2020-21 squads ahead of the FPL Gameweek 18.
We are here with the Watchlist series ahead of Gameweek 18 to identify some of the players that caught the eye over the last few gameweeks. Here are some of the players in our FPL Gameweek 18 Watchlist who are possible options to transfer into the Fantasy team over the coming game weeks.
Players who’ve caught the eye based on recent performances and uplink fixtures here are three options that could come in with a free hit chip in blank gameweek 18.
Tierney [Defender] 5.4 Million
Arsenal’s recent resurgence has seen Tierney amassed 28 points in the last four game weeks with two clean sheets two assists and a goal his 11 attempted assists over that spell can only be bettered by short amongst defenders while only Dallas has taken more touches in the opposition’s box. Arsenal has fairly moderate to easy fixture for the next seven gameweeks [only face Manchester United from the top 5 teams of the current league table] which projects a chance of bagging a handsome amount of FPL points for Tierney during that period of time.
John Stones [Defender] 5.0 Million
The man City were moments away from a clean sheet against Chelsea and restricted their opponents to just two efforts on target. All game Stones and Diaz have formed a great partnership at center-back over the last seven gameweeks where they’ve kept the league-best five clean sheets . They’ve considered league-low tallies of two goals three big chances 12 shots on target and 34 shots in the box over that run. As mentioned earlier City’s upcoming schedule makes their assets appealing beyond the black gameweek 18. They welcome Brighton, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Sheffield United to the Etihad over the next four gameweeks. The seagulls ranked joint 10th with a tally of 11 goals scored in eight away matches this season only Burnley Newcastle and West Brom have fashioned fewer big chances than their 11 on the road.
Pedro Neto [Midfielder] 6.0 Million
Currently standing on number 13 Wolves have comparatively moderate to easy fixture for the upcoming next 10 gameweeks. They will face only Leicester City from the top 5 teams of current standings of the league table. Neto has scored 1 goal and provided 2 assists in the last five gameweeks and during that period of time, he has kept an average of 5 FPL points per game. Though he is a midfielder in FPL, he plays mostly as a winger which gives him space to score and provide assist. Looking at his current form it is expected he will deliver a considerable amount of fpl points in upcoming gameweeks.
Bukayo Saka [Midfielder] 5.3 Million
Arsenal handed West Brom another heavy defeat to earn their third successive league win. Saka netted his third goal of the season tallies of four shots and seven touches in the opposition’s box from the youngster could only be bettered by Lacazette during the match the 19-year-old has picked up two goals and two assists over the last three gameweeks to average nine points per game . No fpl midfielder can better his seven shots in the box over that period with only Rashford and Elgazi able to match that figure. The gunners come into their gameweek 18 meetings with Crystal Palace having scored nine goals in their last four matches ranking behind only Liverpool and man united. Only four teams have fashioned more big chances than their 10. The Eagles meanwhile have conceded 11 goals in the same time frame only West Brom have fared worse and no side has considered more big chances than 15.
De Bruyne [Midfielder] 11.7 Million
The obvious choice Kevin De Bruyne is kept on the watchlist mainly for two reasons, the First- match in gameweek 18 and the Second- most possible captain for double gameweek 19.
Man City was ruthless in exploiting Chelsea’s weaknesses to earn a 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge where De Bruyne has
scored and assisted
. Playing in a false nine role the Belgian created
two big chances
a tally matched only by jack Greelish during game 17 so far. only Bruno Fernandes can equal his five shots taken amongst midfielders over the last six gameweeks. Elgazi and Fernandes are the only midfielders with more big chances to their name than De Bruyne with four and no player has created as many big chances as
he’s six
in that time. With a home meeting with Brighton in black gameweek 18 City assets were always likely to gain attraction for those playing the free hit ship this week but there’s now the added appeal of a double gameweek 19 to come after their postponed match against Aston Villa was rescheduled. They’ll now face three home matches in a row and look to be attractive options regardless of your chip strategy.
