After a miserable UCL Round of 16 exit at home to Lyon , Serie A champions Juventus sacked Maurizio Sarri from the duties of the head coach of the club. The club has confirmed the news today on its official website as well as on social media.
Juventus sacked Maurizio Sarri: What went wrong?
Juventus appointed Sarri last year from Chelsea after parting ways with veteran manager Massimiliano Allegri . Maurizio Sarri helped the English giants Chelsea to win the UEFA Europa League and also to secure 3rd spot in Premier league at 2018/19 season and confirmed their UEFA Champions League spot. Juventus paid Chelsea a compensation of 5million pounds as Sarri had a three-year contract with the blues. Juventus had appointed Sarri for a three-year new deal.
Though Maurizio Sarri has won the Seria A this season his performance as manager disappointed fans and the board too. His playing style, team selection was always a question for the fans. Juventus also performed not too dominantly this season and lost many easy matches which they should win as per the quality of the team. As per the result, they won the League title just by the gap of a single point to Inter Milan . Their cup performance was also not so good as they lost the final of Coppa Italia against Napoli and also played very bad against AC Milan at the semi-final. So the pressure was going upon him in spite of winning the league title. Yesterday Juventus lost the tie of UCL Round of 16 against Lyon which actually helped to reach this saga at the extreme point and finally, Juventus sacked Maurizio Sarri officially today.
Who will take the hot seat at Turin?
Juventus sacked Maurizio Sarri and now they are looking for a new boss. Still, there is no speculations or confirmation coming but some rumours are coming that former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino may be the new manager for the Old Lady . Some reports are coming also that Juventus may go for current Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi and offer him the hot seat. However, if Juventus want immediate results in the UCL, as their main players like Ronaldo and Chiellini don’t have much more time left in their career, they should go for someone more experienced of winning the UCL before.
