Blank Gameweek 29
Before going into the discussion of FPL Gameweek 29, let’s take a look at the fixtures of Gameweek 29, which has a total of only 4 fixtures and 8 teams playing.
- Fulham vs Leeds United
- Brighton vs Newcastle United
- West Ham United vs Arsenal
- Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur
The popular Spurs trio of Kane , Bale , and Son (subjected to his return from injury) and Arsenal captain Aubameyang is a must-have for almost all Free Hit template teams for the Blank Gameweek 29. We will look into the other differentials and budget enablers to fill your squad with the remaining blank gameweek players.
Jesse Lingard (Midfielder) 6.1 million
There was never a better gameweek for bringing the legend Jesse Lingard in your team. Not playing in the last week against his parent club Manchester United , West Ham missed his attacking inputs. In his last 5 matches, Lingard has amassed a massive 13 shots and involved in 5 big chances while creating 2 of them. He also has 5 key passes in those matches which takes his tally to 4 attacking returns from the last five games. After their next gameweek against Arsenal , West Ham has a fair lot of matches coming up and you can easily count on Lingard for his returns. Wolves, Leicester and Newcastle being the next three opponents of the Hammers, Lingard can be a pretty obvious choice for your midfield given his price tag.
Joël Veltman (Defender) 4.4 million
it was Lewis Dunk who grabbed the headlines after scoring in a win over Southampton but Veltman has quietly impressed at right-back. The Netherlands international has started 12 of the last 13 matches in the absence of Tariq Lamptey . over the last six gameweeks, no defender has taken as many as his 10 shots only Vestergaard have fired more from inside the box and only Cooper has landed more on targets. Amongst teammates, only Welbeck has had more than his 2 big chances in that time while only Maupay and Gross compared to his 6 attempted assists . Brighton has kept three clean sheets in their last six home matches with no side concealing as few as their four big chances. Their next opponent Newcastle has scored just three goals in their last six away matches, only Sheffield United has managed fewer while Crystal Palace has fashioned fewer than their four big chances.
Ollie Watkins (Forward) 6.6 million
Watkins played a direct hand in Aston Villa ‘s goal against Newcastle when his header deflected off Kieran Clark to find the back of the net. Over the last six game weeks only Benteke and Kane have landed more than his 7 shots on target amongst forwards but it’s creatively where Watkins has particularly excelled providing 8 attempted assists to rank behind only Maupay and Kane while only Jaime Vardy has created more big chances than his 3 . Aston Villa has struggled in the absence of Jack Grealish but Watkins has played a direct hand in three of their four goals over the last six games. They fashioned just 10 big chances with only Wolves, Newcastle and, Crystal Palace bearing worse but Tottenham their next opponent has conceded eight goals in their last six matches only Newcastle, Liverpool , Southampton, and Sheffield United have shipped more.
Ademola Lookman (Midfielder) 5.1 million
Lookman was restricted to just a single touch in the penalty box by Man City in gameweek 28 but no teammate has produced as many as his 7 goal involvements this season. The 23-year-old has taken 17 shots in the last six gameweeks with only Raphinha and Kane firing more. His tally of 17 attempted assists in that time ranked joined second in the league on paper with Shaw and Bruno Fernandes and behind only Raphinha. Fulham have scored five goals in the last six gameweeks ranking joint 13th and have racked up 11 big chances ranking joint 12th. Incredibly only Chelsea and Man City have taken more shots during that period. Their blank gameweek opponent, Leeds has upped their game defensively at home but has shipped 12 goals in their last six away matches only Sheffield United and Southampton have fared worse just three teams have conceded more than their 15 big chances.
Lewis Dunk (Defender) 5.0 million
If you are on your Free Hit and looking for a one week punt, look no further than this man. The matchup of Brighton against Newcastle is really tempting in the blank gameweek. Surprisingly, their underlying stats make the Seagulls the second-best defense in the league. Their next opponent Newcastle is lacking a lot of their attacking outputs and has problems of their own. Also, Newcastle concedes at least four-headed chances per game, which is the most for the league and Lewis Dunk is Brighton’s go-to guy for headers. Being a centreback, Dunk has taken 5 shots with 3 of them being from inside the box . He also has made 4 key passes but with a blank gameweek leaning to be a potentially low-scoring one, Dunk can be of the players, scoring your precious points.
